MINI SESSION WARDROBE GUIDE

The most common question I receive is "what do I wear" for my session, so I put together this guide of my top tips to look and feel amazing!

TIP #1

First, think about the feel you want your images to have - fun, bright, casual, romantic, formal? Do you want the images to be light and neutral or bright and colorful? Perhaps dark and moody is your vibe! There's no wrong answer, but deciding on the feel will make the following steps much easier.

TIP #2

Keep it simple and avoid loud patterns (unless this is SO you, in which case, limit the loud pattern to one person). Also, unique textures photograph beautifully - think a knit sweater, linen dress, soft organza, etc.

TIP #3

I highly encourage you mamas to come up with your outfit first! I want you to feel amazing and comfortable with what you’re wearing! Afterwards, begin to build everyone else’s wardrobe to compliment your pattern and color!

TIP #4

Having a hard time engaging your child with the idea of photos? Have their wardrobe include their favorite color or offer to let them choose their favorite between two different outfit choices.

TIP #5

As you decide each person's outfit, lay them out next to each other on the bed to help visualize whether they will go well with each other.

TIP #6

Match a dominant or main color in one person's outfit to the accent color in another person's outfit. For example: mom might be wearing a scarf with shades of red in the pattern that match the red in her son's sweater and her daughter's pants.

THE SHOOT

WHAT TO EXPECT

I’ll strike a balance between posing/directing you and letting things unfold naturally so I can catch the real you. All you have to do is show up relaxed and ready to hang out with your favorite people. If there are certain images you want to make sure I get, please let me know and I will do my best to include them. Otherwise just come relaxed, I’ll go through my usual shot list and leave room for candid shots as well. You don’t need to prepare yourself or any poses.

If you have any other questions about our session, please send me an email. I can’t wait for our time together!
